Cabela's - Post Falls Construction Materials Testing & Inspection |
|
PROJECT
We understand the project involves the complete construction of a new Cabela's Retail Center located in Post Falls, ID. The approximately 130,000 total square foot building was constructed of structural steel, structural masonry, structural wood framing, and cast-in-place concrete set on isolated and continuous footings.
SCOPE
The following scope of work was performed.
Earthwork. A soils technician visited the site to examine the foundation excavations and subgrades. Field density tests (compaction) were be performed by nuclear methods on subgrades, each lift of fill or backfill placed in building or paving areas, retaining walls, and over site utilities. Samples of onsite and borrow soils were obtained and laboratory tests were conducted to determine suitability and maximum density/optimum moisture.
Reinforced Concrete. A Special Inspector visited the site to examine forms, reinforcing steel, embedded items, anchor bolts, and epoxied anchors, and performed concrete placement inspections, conduct slump and air entrainment tests, and cast compressive strength specimens during structural concrete placements. Samples were collected the following day and returned to the laboratory for curing until test age. Testing and specimen molding during miscellaneous concrete placements (slabs on grade, sidewalks, curbs, etc.) were conducted at the discretion of the client.
Structural Masonry. A Special Inspector visited the site initially, at the beginning of laying operations, and then periodically as required. The inspector examined reinforcing steel, embedded items, and wall construction prior to each grout placement. Grout placement and consolidation were observed and samples of mortar, grout, and concrete block were sampled and tested at the required frequencies.
Structural Steel Erection and Field Welding. A Special Inspector visited the site initially, at the beginning of erection, to verify the qualifications of welders and examine materials and site conditions. Periodic site visits were made as necessary to examine and test welded and high-strength bolted connections.
Structural Steel Fabrication. A Special Inspector was required to perform similar examinations at the fabricators shop.
Asphalt Concrete Pavement. A technician was present during paving operations to monitor placement and compaction and sample hot-mixed asphalt concrete for asphalt content, sieve analysis, and maximum density.
